Capucine Soup Kitchen - Detroit, Michigan

Gifts in Kind

Helping families recover from the tragedy of a fire or establishing a new life out of a shelter is part of the ongoing Capuchin mission. In order to assist these families, we willing accept good usable furniture at the Capuchin Services Center. Donated household items such as bed and bath linens, dishes, pots and pans, silverware, and small appliances all help displaced families reestablish their households. Working appliances; gas stoves and dryers, refrigerators (no more than 12 years old) and washing machines are also very much in demand.

We are constantly in need of clean, quality clothing for distribution.  Men and children's clothing are always in greatest demand. All of these items can be dropped off at the Capuchin Services Center.

Providing emergency food to those in need is at the core of out Capuchin Mission. Non-perishable food items are always gladly accepted to be distributed to the 200 families that daily come to the Services Center.

During the Thanksgiving season, special programs provide Thanksgiving food baskets to families. At Christmas time, toys and food baskets are distributed to families in need. Turkeys and holiday hams along with new, non-violent toys can be donated for these programs.

The Capuchin Soup Kitchen also accepts the donation of operational cars, boats, motor homes and recreational vehicles. CSK partners with the Volunteers of America who assist in picking up your donation. Contact Lee at 313.579.2100 extension 201. The proceeds from the sale of the donated vehicle benefit the poor and underserved.
